Hear from the Hollywood director who gave up millions for the pursuit of happiness
Tuesday, March 29, 2011Screening & a Speaker
Thursday 3/31
Fong Auditorium
featuring:
Tom Shadyac, Director of THE NUTTY PROFESSOR, BRUCE ALMIGHTY, and ACE VENTURA: PET DETECTIVE
I AM, his newest and first non-fiction film, explores what's wrong with the world and what we can do about it.
After a cycling accident nearly left Shadyac incapacitated for good, he realized that he needed to make a change in his lifestyle. Once he left the hospital, he sold his 17,000-square-foot Hollywood mansion and moved to a mobile home community.
The man who was used to directing crews of 400 set out with a crew of four to go around the world to find and film the top researchers and thinkers in different fields.
In I AM, Shadyac interviews scientists, psychologists, artists, environmentalists, authors, activists, philosophers, entrepreneurs, and others in his quest for truth.
Bishop Desmond Tutu, Dr. Noam Chomsky, historian Dr. Howard Zinn, physicist Lynne McTaggart, and poet Coleman Banks are some of the subjects who engage in fascinating dialogue with Shadyac.
Come see this film and then ask your questions to the director himself!
